Automotive Executive Search - Frequently Asked Questions

As with most decisions in life, retaining a search firm should partially be based on good old-fashioned "common sense" and your gut instinct. At the very least, you need to ask some or all of the following questions, based on your specific situation.

Do we even need an executive search firm to find someone?
We will be the first ones to tell you if you don't and offer alternatives.

Will you provide client references?
Yes. We include this information in our formal presentation package. If you would like to receive this package by email or hard copy, please go to our "Contact Us" page and let us know.

What is the reputation of your firm?
Excellent. You may speak to any of our clients about us.

What will your references say?
Good things. In addition to verifying the overall quality of our work, we believe that they would all add how much they enjoy working with us on a personal level.

With which kinds of companies do you work?
It runs the gamut from multi-billion dollar multi-nationals to privately held regionals.

How long have you been in business?
Since 1987.

Are you the kind of people we want representing us?
We believe so, based on the comfort level that all of our other clients have. Of course, you may judge this for yourself after our initial meeting.

Have you worked on similar searches?
Probably. Having filled over 2000 positions, the odds are very good.

Will you take the time to get to know our company and the people with whom the candidate will work?
Absolutely. It's critical to the process and to allowing us to properly conduct candidate evaluations. For more on this, you may wish to review the information found in "Our Search Process."

Specifically, how do you find people?
Once we fully understand your company and your specific needs, we will provide you with a detailed search strategy of how we will fill your position.

What will happen if you don't find someone?
The practice of executive search is very much like a science...when executed properly, it is guaranteed to produce results. Not finding appropriate candidates means that we've not taken a "realistic assignment". We are quite adept at recognizing this in the very early stages of the search process. Once we do identify that one or more of your criteria may not be realistic, we will work with you in determining where changes need to be made or specifications adjusted.

Do you guarantee your work?
Yes.

What is your fee structure?
This information and more is included in our formal presentation package. If you would like to receive this package, please go to our "Contact Us" page and let us know.

Exactly what services do you provide beside "finding people"?
Please refer to "Our Search Process".

Will our project be given priority? Who will work on it?
We will assign the people in our office that have the most experience with the dynamics of your position/company/industry. The search team will always include 3-4 people and be led by one or two senior recruiters.

Who pays your fee?
Our clients, who are the companies that retain us to fill positions.

What industries do you work in?
We specialize in the automotive/transportation industry, but work extensively in the hardware, housewares, consumer packaged goods, and industrial product markets. We have also provided search services to manufacturing and distribution businesses in many other industries.

What happens after I e-mail you my resume?
If you are sending it in response to a conversation we've had with you about a specific position, we will call you after we have reviewed it. If you are sending it to us unsolicited in order to be considered for something in the future, we will file your information electronically and confidentially according to your background and career objectives and contact you when something appropriate becomes available.
